Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot: Call for Applications

Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot: Call for Applications

The School of Law is looking forward to presenting a new team of UofG Law students that will represent the University in this year's edition of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot - or, as referred to informally, the Vis Moot. We encourage all of those interested to apply.

The Vis Moot is the most important and prestigious mooting tournament in the world, as every year hundreds of law schools compete against each other through written and oral advocacy skills. You can read more about it here. The competition hinges around a fictional case in the field of international commercial arbitration, where you will be asked to represent both sides.

The VIS Moot is held in Austria where the team would travel to Vienna for the final oral rounds and also other countries for practice 'pre-moots'. It is to be confirmed whether these events will be in-person and/or online. Participating in the Vis Moot remains a unique experience, one that you are not likely to forget, and which will allow you an opportunity to step into the shoes of real-life international litigators (see here for more information and testimonials about the Vis moot). If this is something that appeals to you, do definitely apply.

Application Process

The application process is simple. All those interested, please send your CV and a few lines about why you wish to participate to Dr Livashnee Naidoo (livashnee.naidoo@glasgow.ac.uk) who will be coaching the team along with Dr Toni Marzal and Dr Javier Solana. All applications must be received by 16.00 on Friday, 16th September 2022. Interviews will be conducted on Friday, 23rd September.

For those of you enrolled in the LLM program, please note that you cannot participate if you are already licensed to practice law in your country
