100 Years of Women in Law - Creative Workshop Series

Creative Expression and Cultures of Progressive Change in Scotland - 100 Years of Women in Law - Student Workshop with Scriptwriter in Residence, Lynsey Murdoch

**Open to all UofG LLB students in 2nd, 3rd and 4th year.**

The Women in Law project (WIL) draws on interdisciplinary research to uncover the untold story of how women in Scotland overcame barriers to enter the legal profession, following the Sex (Disqualification) Act 1919.

The project has developed data sets that deploy archival and feminist methodologies to document for the first time the professional trajectories and biographies of these pioneering women in law.

One central outcome of the research has been the unearthing of the story of the first woman solicitor in the UK, a UofG graduate, Madge Easton Anderson.

We will be holding two workshops in semester 1 at which students, the project team and our scriptwriter in residence, Lynsey Murdoch, will work collaboratively on interpreting the team’s research centred around Madge Easton Anderson into creative expressions.

Are you a 2nd, 3rd or 4th year LLB law student at UofG interested in investigating the issues around women in law further? And are you keen to experiment with creative ideas and processes, or open-minded about engaging with the law through less traditional methods?

You attend BOTH workshops, due to take place on Monday 22 November (9:30 – 12:30) and Monday 13 December (9:30 - 12:30) in the Stair Building?

IF SO

• PLEASE APPLY!:  Contact the women in law team through this form which asks for just a couple of lines indicating why you would like to participate (please note numbers are very limited so do get in touch as soon as possible to secure participation).

** Deadline extended to Monday 8 November at 5pm**

We’ll inform the selected students by email on 10 November.
